IAU is pleased to offer its Virtual Experiences Program through the semester and summer terms.  These virtual programs will draw on IAU's expertise in experiential-based learning while taking advantage of our wide network of professional contacts in France, Spain, Morocco, and beyond. Students will choose from academic courses, global internships, consulting projects, and social impact practicums/experiential learning projects to customize their semester virtual experience.


ACADEMICS
As part of this experience, the following experiences are available: 

  During the semester, students have the option to take either 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15 academic units in this virtual program.  Please note that at least 3 units of total enrollment must consist of a Virtual Internship, Consulting Project, or Social Impact Practicum.   

During the summer, students have the option to take either 3, 6, or 9 academic units in this virtual program. 

VIRTUAL PROGRAM DATES
Below are the program dates for IAU's Virtual Semester Experience.  It is important to note however, that while the Virtual Global Internships will take place within the timeframes listed below, the fixed date of the internship is flexible and will be determined by IAU, the international organization, the student, and their home university.  
Fall 2020: September 29 - December 16
**Spring 2021: January 25 - April 30 /  January 25 - May 7
Summer 2021: May 21 - July 16

 **Virtual Spring 2021 Semester: Social Impact Practicums, Virtual Courses, Internships, and Consulting Projects in Spain will take place from January 25 - April 30. 
Internships and Consulting Projects in France will take place from January 25 - May 7.

PROGRAM COST
The cost of the program will depend on the term and the number of units in which students are enrolled. See full program fee details on our website here


FEES & DEPOSIT
  • No application fee
  • Enrollment Deposit: $250 due after program admittance
     
REFUND POLICY
  • 15 days or more prior to program start date: full refund of all fees paid (including enrollment deposit)
  • Within 15 days of program start date: 75% of tuition will be refunded
  • As of program start date or after: no tuition refunds

INTERN
VIRTUAL GLOBAL INTERNSHIPS
This experience is designed to immerse students in a multicultural professional space through virtual means. A special effort is placed on helping students develop the skills required to enter the professional world and navigate cross-cultural entrepreneurial environments. This hands-on experience is complemented by an academic component, which guides students through the experience and helps them strategically reflect on challenges, accomplishments, and personal and professional development. Students are intentionally placed based on interests and skillsets in organizations in France, Spain, and other European countries with the aim to build their professional network through industry-specific training.  While fluency in French/Spanish is not required, some placements may require some knowledge of French/Spanish while others may require more advanced levels.  The 3-credit internship is a total of 135 hours.

VIRTUAL CONSULTING PROJECTS
In this course, students apply the core elements of organizational consulting to real-life scenarios across a variety of industries. A large part of the course contains an industry-specific consulting project led by a professor in partnership with international organizations, where the organizations present a problem for the students to solve. Students work in groups and use strategic consulting practices to provide recommendations on how the company can optimize the social, managerial, and technological aspects of organizational performance. At the end of the course, students share their recommendations with the organization through a virtual professional presentation.

SOCIAL IMPACT PRACTICUMS
The Virtual Social Impact Practicums: Experiential Learning Projects are academic courses that have an experiential learning project component. These project-based courses are offered within specific academic fields where students apply the skills they have learned to real-world problems and scenarios in partnership with international organizations and IAU community partners.  The course focuses on both the theoretical and experiential realms of course topics, in a variety of disciplines, enabling students to develop skills, knowledge, and values from practical experiences and ongoing reflection. Practicum courses can involve research, social impact initiatives, and community-based learning activities, theater, art, or project-based work, which is related to the course material.

VIRTUAL COURSES
As part of IAU's virtual semester program, students have the option to take up to 15 units of academic credit, which can be earned through a combination of Virtual Internships, Consulting Internships, Experiential Learning Practicums, and Remote Academic Courses.  All remote courses will be conducted in English except for those specified below.
