IAU College Masters Program Continuation

IAU College (IAU) is an American institution of higher learning located in southern France offering study abroad opportunities and degree programs in various fields including Business Administration, International Affairs, Art and Art History and French Studies. Its main campus is in Aix-en-Provence, France, and satellite programs span throughout Spain, Morocco, and the United Kingdom. Established in 1957, IAU College was one of the first American-style, English language, liberal arts educational institutions in Western Europe. It is chartered by the Regents of the State University of New York and is recognized by the Rectorat of Aix-Marseille University and the French Ministry of Education. IAU is often considered the oldest and largest study abroad program in Europe and the first institution to offer a study abroad program to those studying programs other than French language.

NIU - School of Record
NIU serves as a School of Record for IAU College's Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts in French Studies, and Master of Arts in International Relations/Political Science degrees. Under this model, NIU provides course-by-course equivalencies and ultimately a transcript for those students who require it.  Master's students will be enrolled as Students-at-Large at NIU.  IAU College will work with each Master's students to determine their course enrollments and relay this enrollment information to the NIU Study Abroad Office who will then register the Master's students in NIU courses equivalent to IAU College Master's courses.


Master's Programs - Academic Programs and Courses
Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting or Sculpture: The Marchutz School of Fine Arts is proud to announce a two-year MFA degree program in painting or sculpture in Aix-en-Provence, France. The 60-credit program is conducted in English and accepts artists of diverse interests and backgrounds. The program combines daily studio work, seminars, museum studies, field studies throughout Europe, professional internship opportunities, and a low-residency option.

Master of Arts in French Studies (MAFS): The Master of Arts in French Studies (MAFS) at IAU is a one-year program that offers students the unique opportunity to earn an American MA degree in a Fr­ench-speaking environment. Situated in Aix-en-Provence, France near the Mediterranean coast, IAU’s program unites mainland French with the Francophone countries of North Africa, ensuring that students are exposed to the rich diversity of the French language and culture.

Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR): The IAU Master of Arts in International Relations is a one-year Master’s degree leveraging IAU’s strategic location in Southern France. The founders of IAU had this in mind when they constructed a curriculum based in Political Science and International Relations. The Humanities and Social Sciences have always played an important role at IAU and will naturally serve as the intellectual backbone of the MA in International Relations.
