About Us
The Northern Illinois University Study Abroad Office is committed to supporting students while they pursue educational opportunities outside of the United States. Study abroad impacts the way students think about themselves, their communities, and the world.
We offer a diverse portfolio of programs including:
• Study abroad, internships, and independent research
• Semester, academic year and summer programs
• Programs for any NIU major or field of study, undergraduate and graduate.
• Programs in 80 different countries.
We collaborate with campus partners as well as providers in the US and abroad to:
• Advise students about study abroad options and help them identify programs that best meet their academic, personal and professional goals
• Offer international programs that facilitate learning inside and outside the classroom
• Support students before they leave, during their time abroad, and after they return
